Very good book.
Good points. But the extensive content on church leadership and the church is unnecessary... A teaching to the choir. Good to hear from a Biblical chaplain though.
This book is a great resource for anyone who has a spiritual care ministry. It covers many situations that a minister will face.
Every chaplain, Minister and Pastor needs to read this. A great book for any one that serves others.
A very much needed book when ministering to families dealing with grief & loss.
Initially I was quite disappointed with this text because I had read the title literally and believed I was going to gain great insight into the ministry of PRESENCE. However, there were few sentences actually addressing 'presence' ministry. When I re-read the text from the perspective of what can it teach me, I discovered several useful segments. The texts gives a good overview of the dimensions of chaplaincy ministry and uses scripture very effectively to support contentions about chaplains and chaplaincy ministry. I found the sections on the characteristics of the chaplain, including essential personal qualities to be very valuable. It is a useful text for people seeking clarity re their call to this ministry and for growing chaplains who wish to gain deeper insight and greater knowledge of chaplaincy.
I liked this book in general and it was very helpful. I did not give it 5 stars because I believe that it rambled in some places. Generally it was beneficial to my chaplaincy.
